Well Go U.S.A. Will Release Aussie Filmmaker Zak Hilditch's These Final Hours On DVD And Blu-ray On May 12

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
James (played by Nathan Phillips — Wolf Creek, Chernobyl Diaries) is a bit of an ass.   He has abandoned Zoe (Jessica De Gouw), his pregnant, unmarried girlfriend to go to a “party to end all parties.”

That’s the opening hook to Aussie filmmaker Zak Hilditch’s These Final Hours, which has been given a domestic release date of May 12 for both DVD and Blu-ray editions by Well Go U.S.A.

You can understand the fix that James is in as the world is about to come to an end.   Some are killing themselves, some pray, others party, but for James his coping mechanism is to go walkabout.   Which is appropriate since he lives in Perth on the west coast of Australia.   It’s overwhelming … the world is toast and everyone will be dead in the next 12 hours (or so) and those in Perth are likely to be the last to go (luck of the draw).

Chaos reigns in the streets and no sooner has our boy headed out to party when he comes across a pair of thugs who have strong-armed a girl into submission and plan to have their way with her.   After all, what does her rape and murder matter … they will all be dead in just a matter of hours anyway.

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
Dead or not; consequences or not … it’s not right.   He takes them on, kills them and rescues her and sets in motion an end-of-the-world quest to reunite her with her family.   It is not what he planned, but there you have it.

This will be an odd journey that will take him to the party (at his other girlfriend’s place — this guy gets around) and the strange and surreal will become stranger as the end draws near, his quest consumes and his fate will bring him full-circle to what really matters as the world ends.

These Final Hours is a well-crafted Aussie apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that will draw you in even though the end is clear from the get-go.  There will be no rescue; no survivors … it is James’ journey that keeps you focused to the task at hand.

Paramount Home Media Distribution Picks May 5 For The Domestic DVD Debut Of Love, Rosie

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
Paramount Home Media Distribution has picked up for domestic DVD distribution The Film Arcade’s 2015 theatrical release of director Christian Ditter’s film adaptation of the Cecelia Ahern’s international best-selling novel “Where Rainbows End.”  It was retitled for the screen as simply Love, Rosie.

The street for the DVD debut is May 5, which yields an ARR of 88 days.

Life-long soul mates Rosie Dunne (Lily Collins — The Blind Side, Mirror Mirror) and Alex Stewart (Sam Clafin — perhaps best known as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games film series) manage to complicate their relationship to the point where all seems hopefully lost.

When high school is about to end, things for these two — who seem made for each other — takes some not-so-unexpected twists and turns.   The prom turns into a miserable experience for both — they didn’t take each other — and the after dance activities set in motion events that will send the two on different paths.

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph TribbeyOver the next 18-years we see what might have been — should have been — grow further and further from ever being.    And that’s sad, but this is a romantic comedy, so there is always that chance that these two will wake up from their self-imposed nightmare and find true happiness.

Sorry, no spoilers here on how Love, Rosie ends.   Happy ending?   Bittersweet ending?   You’ll have to wait until May 5 for the DVD arrival to find that out!

Icarus Films Selects May 5 As The DVD Debut Date For Caroline Bâcle’s Lost Rivers

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
Documentary filmmaker Caroline Bâcle’s Lost Rivers, a part-adventure, part-history lesson look at waterways (both famous and not-too-famous) and the cities built along their banks.   Cities exist where there is water.

Icarus Films has tabbed May 5 as the DVD debut date for this multi-language (with English subtitles) film presentation.

As the Industrial Revolution crammed more and more workers into the cities (worldwide), it became apparent to city planners and political officials that the primary reason a city was where it was — namely, a water supply — came into conflict with the organization of the metropolitan complex.   Rivers run where rivers choose to run, but man could change that.

The water supply needed to be brought under control.   Now skip ahead to modern times and enter filmmaker Caroline Bâcle and her insightful documentary, Lost Rivers.   With the best intentions and the best engineering techniques of the day, the rivers were diverted, hidden and controlled … but rivers run where rivers choose to run!!!

In some cities, these hidden rivers have become adventure attractions — tours are conducted and the underground network is explored.   In some cities the infrastructure from over a century ago is becoming to come apart and there is a push to restore the rivers — the city’s water sources — to their original “pristine” state.   She examines such diverse places as Seoul, Toronto, London and even Yonkers, New York.   The Bova-Celato River in Italy that runs through the hamlet of Brecia (about 40 miles east of Milan) is also explored.

This is a fascinating film that will have the viewer asking the question, “what secrets lie beneath my city; my town?”

Bonus features include 13 additional video segments culled from the final release version of the documentary.
