Arrow Video, with domestic sales and distribution expertise
provided by MVD Entertainment Group, has a new hi-def transfer of Japanese
filmmaker Kinji Fukusaku’s 1977 yakuza thriller, Doberman Cop, ready for
release as a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack edition on June 27.
Sonny Chiba stars an Okinawan detective — basically a fish
out of water — who is dispatched to Tokyo to investigate the murder of a local,
which turns into something more than even he could imagine!
Bonus features include newly prepared video sessions with
Sonny Chiba and scripter Koji Takada (The Street Fighter, Tattooed Hit Man,
etc.), plus the featurette “Beyond the Film: Doberman Cop,” which is a
presentation by the biographer of Kinji Fukusaku by author Sadao Yamane.
