Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Picks Mar. 6 For The Home Entertainment Launch Of Woody Allen's Wonder Wheel

DVD & Blu-ray Release Report, Ralph Tribbey
It didn’t to a lick of business at the box office, which is sad since it is a Woody Allen film — written and directed by him.   It all fairness, Wonder Wheel never really had chance to pull in decent numbers … it opened on five screens on Dec. 1, expended out to 536 two weeks later (during the “dead zone” on the lead-up to Christmas) and then just as quickly vanished.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will be guiding this Amazon Studios production into the film’s next phase, the home entertainment marketplace on Mar. 6 with both DVD and Blu-ray editions being offered.   At least this latest Woody Allen film — a delightful period piece that takes place on Coney Island in the 1950s — will be able to release a wider audience on that date.

The ARR for Wonder Wheel works out 95 days and ticket sales generated from the film’s limited run currently stand at just $1.3 million.

The only bonus feature is a video session with the cast and crew discussing the “Making of Wonder Wheel.”
